The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures teaches Chinese, French, German, Italian and Japanese
as well as the cultures and literatures of the countries where these languages are spoken. The Department's
mission is also to conduct research in these areas and to serve the community and the profession of foreign
language and literature education.
