Sharon FairchildDr. Sharon Fairchild

Dr. Fairchild received her B.A. and M.A. in French and her Ph.D. in Romance Languages from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.  She has taught both French and Spanish at TCU, but now teaches only French and is Chair of the Department.  Dr. Fairchild teaches a variety of French courses from beginning and intermediate French language, French Phonetics and Conversation, and the Surveys of French Literature, notably French literature from the Middle Ages through the Nineteenth Century.   She also conducts the TCU Summer Study Abroad program in France.  Dr. Fairchild’s scholarly work is devoted to nineteenth century French literature. She has published articles on French writers George Sand, Victor Hugo, and Alfred de Musset.  Her latest scholarly interest, however, is focused on Francophone Caribbean literature, particularly the novels of Maryse Condé and Gisèle Pineau.  Outside of her work at TCU, Sharon loves to travel in France, enjoys hiking, the outdoors, and classical music.


Kindra SantamariaDr. Kindra Santamaria

Dr. Santamaría received her BA in Elementary Education and French at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. She then continued her French studies at Florida State University where she achieved a Ph.D. in French with a concentration in Second Language Acquisition. Her research interests include working memory and classroom language acquisition. Outside of her work at TCU, Dr. Santamaría enjoys reading, traveling, the outdoors, and spending time with her family.


Marie ScheinDr. Marie Schein

Dr. Marie Schein is an instructor of French in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. A native of Nîmes, France, she received her Maîtrise de Langue Vivante Ètrangère-Anglais from Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France.  After arriving in the United States, she continued her education at the University of Colorado at Boulder where she graduated with an M.A. in French.  She holds the Ph.D. in English from the University of North Texas. Dr. Schein has taught English and French at West Texas A&M, Texas Wesleyan, The University of Texas at Arlington and at Dallas, and TCU. Her research interests include Francophone cultures and literatures, Second Language Writing, ESL, and American and Native Literatures.
