At least every second summer students have the opportunity to participate in a summer program in Cologne and Berlin with TCU German professors and get up to six TCU course credit hours. Description of a typical summer program:
Students take a three-credit course that will offer participants an intensive immersion experience in the German language and culture. The two principal sites are Cologne (3 weeks) and Berlin or Vienna (1 week).
In Cologne, students will also take an intensive language course at the Carl Duisberg Zentrum in the mornings for 24 class hours per week (this course can be transferred in for TCU credit). In the afternoons, your professor will accompany you on excursions relating both to historical and present-day Cologne. Excursions to neighboring sites (Aachen, Bonn, the Rhine river) will take place on weekends. For this three-week period, you will be hosted by German families.
In week four, you will travel to Berlin to experience one of the German-speaking world's most dynamic capital cities. Morning lectures will provide historical context. Afternoon excursions will illustrate lecture content.
